Beaches: Polurrian is a 10 minutes walk down the cliff and is big and quiet enough for games of football or french cricket, when sunbathing and reading have run their course . Look no further than a 25 minute walk or 5 minute drive for surfing at Poldhu or coffee on the beach.  Drive a couple of minutes above Poldhu to a small car park from where you can walk to Gunwallow . Check the  RNLI  site for info on where and when there's lifeguards on duty.  Enroute back to the house stop at Polurrian for tea or evening drink on their terrace. 

Mullion has lots to offer besides access to shopping,there's  fishing or crabbing , a round of golf overlooking Church Cove and Poldhu, horseriding, spa treatments. Elsewhere on the Lizard there's  coasteering or learn to sail at Helford or at Trevassack Lake, go Stand up paddle boarding or kayaking at Coverack or hire a Kayak at Mullion Cove

Days out :  Flambards theme park in Helston or the Cornish seal sanctuary at Gweek offer fun for all.

Walking: If you're following the South West Coast Path,  why not base yourself with us for some of the legs, and contact us for help organizing transfers or if holidaying for a week do various circular walks from us and make use of the buses. See I walk Cornwall for suggestions

If you're experiencing a blowy day in Mullion, try the other side of the peninsular and a river tour on the  Helford river or take a foot ferry across and walk to Trebah Gardens

Some of the best UK Scuba diving is to be found at Porthkerris , 30 minutes away.

Art : The Tate at St Ives is 50 minutes away and more locally is  Lizard Art Cooperative, surf art at Waves Surf Art in Porthleven, or at either Helford or Coverack combine a walk with some art to see Kestle Barton ,or the Terence Coventry Sculpture Park

Wine tasting : 40 minutes away are wine tours at Polgoon Vineyard

Visit a brewery: Helston's Blue Anchor make Spingo Ale on site and have been for over 300 years ( bus there and back?)

Visit film locations: there are Poldark film locations on the Lizard at Predannack Wollas, Gunwalloe and Kynance or visit Bonython Gardens used in the ZDF film adaptations of Rosamund Pilger books "The Prime of Life" (Blüte des Lebens), "Summer of Awakening" (Sommer des Erwachens) and "Anwälte küsst man nicht" ("Don't Kiss a Lawyer"). Or walk to Frenchman's Creek made famous by Daphne Du Maurier's book or more recently, Fat Apples Cafe mentioned in Raynor Winn's Salt Path

Minack Theatre  is an hour away and has a programme of events from March to end September and Prussia Cove International Musician's concert series tours in Cornwall in September. 

Wildlife:Explore the flora and fauna around the Lizard , Butterflies at Preddanack, and the site ,           lists latest sitings around the Lizard coastline. The Natural Lizard site is full of information and the National Trust Wildlife watch point at Lizard Point is a good resource The Botanical Cornwall Group blog on the Lizard . Plantlife

Museums and history: Lizard lighthouse heritage centre, pilchard and serpentine factory ruins Poltesco , RNLI at Lizard 

Seasonal local highlights include:  Easter Duck racing on Poldhu beach,  May it's the Helston Flora Dance . During the summer watch some gig rowing at Cadgwith, Helford or Porthleven,  sing along at the Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival in June and last night of the Proms in late July at Fat Apples Cafe
